IT Project Leader

Job Description Summary

Responsible for management of assigned IT Projects, ensuring they meet organizational goals and requirements. Support the successful delivery of IT projects through effective facilitation, monitoring and timely, transparent reporting. Establish project metrics with the business and IT champions. Support the attainment of those metrics through effective project resource utilization. Implement PMO processes and provide training and guidance to project management staff and contractors. Facilitate the removal of organizational roadblocks and implement change as required to shift the culture towards more effective project management disciplines.

Job Description

  • Manage IT projects to successful conclusion, ensuring project deliverables meet the agreed upon requirements and are completed on schedule, within budget, and with the defined level of quality
  • Create project artifacts, such as project plans, metrics, team and stakeholder communications, resource requirements and schedules
  • Establish project metrics with the business and IT champions and ensure transparent reporting of progress and issues
  • Drive corrective action when required
  • Identify and acquire project resources
  • Manage the work of project-based resources and the day-to-day interactions with suppliers
  • Provide critical feedback to the individual members and/or the team member's manager when necessary
  • Identify and highlight risks and issues within the project and escalate appropriately
  • Be proactive, by devising effective mitigation and escalation strategies to address risks
  • Adhere to all PMO gate processes and controls
  • Capture lessons learned for sharing with other projects
  • Ensure projects are formally closed
  • Ensure consistent utilization of a global PMO tool that provides portfolio, project management and time tracking
  • Support implementation of the project management methodology, processes and governance tools
  • Suggest project management related process improvements
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • 5 years of experience with successful delivery of multiple cross-functional, medium complexity projects
  • Experience leading projects in multiple technologies and functions
  • Experience with waterfall and agile SDLC techniques
  • PMP certification preferred
