Job Description

Worthington Steel is looking to add an Industrial Tooling Technician to our team. The Industrial Tooling Technician performs a combination of production tasks which may include, but not limited to, building jigs, fixtures, and dies, overseeing the machining of all parts, and ensuring timely and accurate machining. This role also assists with assembly and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, problem solver who has a strong work ethic to improve quality and production levels of systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines and perform daily tasks to ensure safe and quality production
  • Package, weigh, and load/unload material, and stage material
  • Strong work ethic and desire to perform duties to the highest standard
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost standards
  • Operate and set up lathes, Bridgeport type mills, grinders, drill presses to machine basic parts
  • Troubleshoot blank/draw dies to determine root cause of issues and how to correct them
  • Use micrometers, dial indicators, and Vernier calipers to accurately measure parts for quality checks
  • Read and understand mechanical blueprints of basic parts
  • Perform basic math related to machining parts (conversions, add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc.)
  • Safely lift/rig materials to load/unload machines using forklift and/or cranes
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Experience

  • Physical, repetitive work; able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to operate banding tools and read a tape measure
  • Handle small parts and follow quality policies
  • Recognize and detect quality issues
  • Read and comprehend detailed instructions in English
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Manufacturing or construction experience
  • Required OSHA safety training
  • 3-6 months of previous Tool & Die repair experience or equivalent knowledge

Shifts available:

  • 1st shift: 7 am - 3 pm, Monday - Friday with occasional overtime as needed.
